As a Cube insider, you'll get access to interesting new trends, what we think about them and how you can benefit.

New Trend:  What is Agentic AI?

With AI becoming ever-evolving, it has now taken a step further into taking action all on its own. Everyone is used to generative AI, but now we have agentic AI. Enver Cetin, an AI expert at global Experience Engineering firm Ciklum, stated, “Agentic AI refers to AI systems and models that can act autonomously to achieve goals without the need for constant human guidance. The agent AI system understands the goal for the user and the context they are trying to solve.”

Agentic AI depends on a complicated ensemble of machine learning techniques with natural language processing and automation technologies. While agentic AI systems harness the creative abilities of generative AI models like ChatGPT, the difference is their focus is on decision-making over content creation while not relying on human prompts. They are set to optimize particular goals or objectives, such as maximizing sales, customer satisfaction scores, or efficiency in supply-chain processes. They also carry out complex sequences of activities, like independently searching databases or triggering workflows to complete activities. Agentic AI systems are designed to learn quickly from a company’s human and brand values to ensure that their decisions and actions align with the business.

Agentic AI and generative AI may seem similar on the surface in terms of serving humanity. In reality, their goals and functions make them very different. Agentic AI are equipped with sensors, algorithms, and actuators that enable them to perceive their environment, process information, and execute actions. It considers its objectives before determining the best choice for action. Generative AI is about producing something new from old data. Agentic AI produces new information, learning from its environment and adjusting its actions accordingly. While generative AI works on a single, specific goal, agentic AI tackles broader, multi-step goals that require continuous decision-making and adaptation. Both generative AI and agentic AI are tools with their own benefits and challenges. Recognizing these nuances can help businesses and individuals make informed decisions about how to leverage AI effectively.

Companies can use agentic AI to strengthen relationships with customers and clients. Businesses can gain an increase in sales, improved lead qualification, and enhanced customer satisfaction with the help of agentic AI. These systems can also personalize interactions by remembering previous engagements, fostering long-term brand loyalty. They would have to be careful when it comes to how agentic AI can be used ethically, since their usage adds some accountability to the decision-making process with some oversight to prevent harmful actions based on incorrect reasoning or biased data. Aside from this downside, there are plenty of benefits for agentic AI to make it a great innovation.

New Insight:  The Potential Benefits of Agentic AI

Agentic AI can function in many different areas and industries. Like any other tool, it has many functions and accessibilities to be used to its fullest extent. According to Thadeous Goodwyn, director of generative AI at Booz Allen Hamilton, “Agentic AI breaks down a larger main objective into smaller subtasks.” It learns patterns and relationships to determine the best approach to achieving a goal. Out of all the traits it has, here are just a few.

1. Knowledge Retrieval

Generative AI is known for gathering up data and creating content based on said data. It’s not quite the same for agentic AI. It improves knowledge retrieval by accessing information and taking action based on insights. An agentic AI chatbot could access a knowledge base, answer any user queries, and even run next-best actions. An average chatbot could only answer specific, well-defined user questions, but agentic AI analyzes uses, offers options, and narrows down information while implementing recommended solutions.

2. Risk Reduction and Security

If you are having trouble with security and managing risks, AI agents are here to help out. Agentic AI aids in enterprise security operations and risk reduction efforts by orchestrating the components of those activities. AI agents in a security operations center can proactively scan for new and emerging threats, investigate anomalies, and automatically take corrective action without human intervention. For risk management, it can search for unusual activity, investigate those patterns to determine if they’re truly fraudulent, and give automatic responses.

3. Supply Chain and Logistics

If you’re thinking about how to organize the structure of your resources, Agentic AI is the perfect tool for this problem. It helps with supply chain and logistics by orchestrating multiple tasks. In the past, workers used to rely on technology to handle a majority of the work. Agentic AI now orchestrates the entire workflow. Supply chain workers could input the desired outcome by finding and delivering the needed quantity of supplies at the lowest cost. They can also conduct the quickest delivery and expect the system to identify how to achieve their tasks and initiate their agendas into reality.

New Action: How to Utilize Agentic AI as a Business Innovation

Agentic AI may be one of the most significant innovations for businesses and companies. It can carry out many actions and goals efficiently and thoroughly. There is so much that AI can do for many different companies in a wide range of industries. When it comes to agentic AI, they can complete any assignment better than generative AI or any human. Like any tool, it does have to be used responsibly. If the dataset is accurate and unbiased, along with its goal being specific, it will prove to be a great example of technology’s development for the future.

  • Agentic AI focuses on taking action and making decisions based on any given dataset or assigned by anyone.

  • These systems carry out more complicated tasks on a multiscale level compared to generative AI.

  • Businesses, companies, and individuals can use agentic AI to improve all kinds of communications and reduce time-consuming tasks.

  • Its benefits in multiple areas can make it a wonderful innovation for anyone to rely on when they need to get tasks completed in an efficient manner.
